3D 프린팅을 위한 표준 파일 포맷 개발완료: 마이크로소프트, 휴렛패커드 등 주요 기업 콘소시엄으로 구성
An all-star cast, to be sure, if you are looking to shake up the 3D printing market a bit and solve some of its problems – one of which is that 3D models and files are increasingly more complex, but the current, most-used standard, the STL file is woefully inadequate to handle that depth.
Part of the reason, as many 3D printing enthusiasts know or quickly find out, 3D printers have evolved beyond the ubiquitous and simple STL file format. 3MF is an XML-based data format, as is another format I will talk about in a moment. 3MF is a human-readable compressed XML that includes definitions for data related to 3D manufacturing. The format is designed to be an additive manufacturing format, with the complete model information contained within a single archive: mesh, textures, materials, colors and print ticket.
